The Salon Professional School of Cosmetology was founded in March 2022 by Kanika Free, a licensed cosmetologist, instructor and dedicated beauty industry professional with over a decade of experience. Driven by a passion to elevate beauty education and create lasting opportunities for aspiring professionals, Kanika established the school in Detroit, Michigan, with a vision to fill the gaps she observed in traditional cosmetology education—offering both technical training and real-world business skills.

From its inception, the school has focused on preparing students for licensure and long-term success in the beauty industry through comprehensive programs in cosmetology, nail technology and instructor training.

State Board Exam

Instructors will thoroughly prepare you for the State Board Exam. During your time here at The Salon Professional School of Cosmetology you will perform State Board Exam simulations that give you a feel for the exam. As you near graduation, you will receive guidance packing your bags and transportation to the Exam if needed.
